Earlier this month our good friend Robert Scott came in to shoot a quick video of how easy it is to get a little Pelican Pier flavour from your own kitchen using our fry-at-home meal kits.

We know it’s nice to see the steps written out, so here you go!

Note: Every kitchen is different so you may need to adjust temperatures or times to your specific equipment.

Our Fries

  1. Preheat oven to 400°C.

  2. Spread fries evenly in a single layer on a cookie sheet.

  3. Bake for 6 to 7 minutes and then flip.

  4. Finish in the oven for another 6-7 minutes or until crisp.

While the fries are crisping you can prepare the fish…

Our Fish

  1. Pour 1 cup of oil into a deep frying pan.

  2. Set the heat to medium-high and allow the oil to come up to temperature (about 5 minutes).

  3. Pour some of our batter into a shallow container, wide enough so that the piece of fish won’t fold over on itself.

  4. Measure out about 1 cup of flour and pour it into a shallow plate or bowl.

  5. Remove the fish from the packaging and pat dry with a paper towel.

  6. Using tongs, lightly press the fish into the flour, lightly coating both sides.

  7. Shake off any excess flour and then dredge the fish in batter on all sides, one piece of fish at a time.

  8. Immediately place the fish in the hot oil with long tongs. Be sure to drop fish away from you slowly to avoid splashing yourself with hot oil.

  9. Let fish cook for about 2 minutes. Once the batter is golden brown, flip to the other side.

  10. After another 2-3 minutes, check again - once all of the batter is golden it's time to eat!

Enjoy! While we certainly think a trip to our dining room is the best Pelican Pier experience, we know that’s not always possible. Hopefully this will tide you over until we see you again ;)
